POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dynamic individual to oversee and enhance its outreach and education program as the Health Education Coordinator/Grant Writer. This role involves building strong connections with key leaders in the community to support the center's mission. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of outreach and education activities, utilizing a comprehensive assessment to guide strategic focus. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee ongoing development of outreach and education programs.
  • Participate in the design and conduction of outreach and education activities.
  • Develop methods to increase program awareness generally and among target groups.
  • Coordinate and provide oversight activities of agencies that the Clinical Center contracts for outreach services.
  • Develop educational materials for distribution.
  • Analyzing data from research and projects then writing up the results for publications.
  • Maintain the Clinical Center resource library.
  • Development of grant proposals to fund specific projects.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance from staff, patients, medical community, unions, and others.
  • Supervise master's in public health and other students utilizing the Clinical Center as a field placement site. 
  • Mentor Master in Public Health or medical students on independent research projects. 
  • Teach individual modules as needed within Health Systems Science Intersession on Population Health.
 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Master's in Public health with additional graduate-level training focused on social and behavioral dimensions of occupational health.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in academic, occupational & public health settings. Must have project management skills. 
  • High levels of initiative and commitment to the field of occupational health. 
  • Must have a passion for public health, and a willingness to undertake a range of program and academic duties.
  • Possess the ability to provide support for scholarly activities in the field of occupational health including proficiency in medical, public health, and social science literatures. 
  • Must have the ability to identify and coordinate collaboration with academic and community-based organizations, and interface with advisory board members. 
  • Must have knowledge of research skills, including:
    • The ability to extract data from a variety of sources.
    • Apply computer applications (e.g. SAS, Excel, NVivo, Maxq) for data analysis.
  • Prepare written work for publication and grant preparation and public presentations.
