POSITION OVERVIEW

A well-established leader in the Petroleum Wholesale Industry throughout the Southeast is seeking an ambitious early-career accounting graduate who is eager to learn and grow within the organization. The company prides itself on providing exceptional customer service and supporting the success of local markets across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia through both branded and unbranded petroleum offerings.

This position will report directly to the VP of Finance. While the primary focus will be on accounts payable functions, the role also offers exposure to a wide range of accounting and finance responsibilities, along with regular interaction across various business functions. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a well-rounded foundation in a dynamic and supportive environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Reconcile daily bank activity with the accounting system to ensure accurate cash reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain automated accounts payable (AP) processes, ensuring proper functionality and updating workflows as needed; review and process invoices as necessary.
  • Regularly review AP aging reports and follow up on outstanding or overdue items.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts to maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Analyze financial transactions to identify and correct errors or discrepancies.
  • Support the development and implementation of internal financial controls to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with the integration of automated processes and AI-driven applications to improve financial workflows.
  • Provide support for internal and external audit requests by preparing required documentation and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or  2 or more years  in an accounts payable or similar role preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including experience with functions, formulas, and data analysis tools.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets.
  • Natural curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
