POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic financial leader, responsible for guiding the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring strong governance, and supporting growth across a diversified and integrated energy portfolio. This includes traditional energy operations as well as emerging low-carbon and transition-focused initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Financial Strategy & Planning
    • Develop and execute long-term financial plans aligned with the organisation’s strategic direction.
    • Support large-scale capital programs, operational expansion, and energy-transition initiatives.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of sustainability-linked financing and transition finance frameworks.
  • Treasury & Capital Markets
    • Manage capital structure, liquidity, and cash flow across the group.
    • Lead all financing activities, including bank relationships, capital markets issuance, and ESG-linked debt instruments.
    • Maintain strong relationships with rating agencies and financial stakeholders.
  • Financial Reporting & Governance
    • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in line with international standards.
    • Strengthen internal controls, governance frameworks, and audit processes.
    • Establish group-wide financial policies and procedures that support transparency and accountability.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management
    • Lead annual budgeting and long-range forecasting cycles.
    • Provide financial insights, variance analysis, and strategic recommendations.
    • Partner with operational and business unit leaders to optimize performance and operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify and manage financial, market, currency, and credit risks across the group.
    • Oversee risk-mitigation strategies, including insurance structures and hedging frameworks.
    • Maintain a robust enterprise risk-management system.
  • Investor Relations & ESG
    • Lead communications with lenders, investors, and financial institutions.
    • Support sustainability and ESG reporting, ensuring alignment with global frameworks.
    • Present financial strategy and results to board committees, investors, and external stakeholders.
  • M&A, Investments & Joint Ventures
    • Evaluate and lead investment opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and joint-venture partnerships.
    • Oversee due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration efforts.
    • Support strategic investments in new-energy technologies and diversification initiatives.
  • Leadership & Organisational Development
    • Build and lead a high-performing finance organisation.
    • Drive continuous improvement, digital transformation, and process optimisation.
    • Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and excellence.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or professional qualification preferred.
  • 15+ years of senior finance leadership experience within large, complex, capital-intensive sectors (energy, industrials, infrastructure, or related fields).
  • Strong background in corporate finance, capital markets, treasury, and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing large transformation programs or supporting operational modernisation.
  • Proven track record engaging with boards, auditors, lenders, and regulators.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence across a matrixed organisation.
  • Deep understanding of sustainability-linked finance and ESG reporting is a strong advantage.
  • Regional (GCC/Middle East) experience preferred.
