POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced education professionals to serve as Head Teacher (Head of School/Principal) for our client in Indonesia. The Head Teacher is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of a school, the academic achievement of the students and the management of its staff. Responsible for the formulation of the strategic and school development plans, marketing strategies, organization change and recruitment. Head Teachers lead, motivate and manage staff by delegating responsibility, setting expectations and targets and evaluating staff performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching and Learning: Promote learning as the central focus of all school activities. Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning to ensure high professional standards are set and maintained. Ensure that each student's progress is regularly assessed, recorded, reported, and supported. Encourage all staff to participate in ongoing professional development for their own growth and improvement.
- People: Lead the selection and appointment of both teaching and non-teaching staff at the school. Oversee the management and deployment of all staff, assigning specific duties as needed. Ensure all employees receive the necessary information to perform their duties effectively. Provide leadership, support, and development opportunities to staff at all levels to promote continuous improvement. Ensure that staff appraisals are conducted rigorously, and supervise the evaluation of teachers' performance within the school.
- School Development and Promotion: Provide clear vision and direction in leading strategic and school development planning. Establish, implement, and review marketing procedures with staff involvement. Recruit and retain students while maintaining and improving the school's academic standing. Build and maintain strong relationships with feeder schools.
- Resources: Plan, manage, allocate, and account for the school's human, financial, and material resources. Ensure the finance team and Finance Director establish clear procedures for setting and controlling budgets, with appropriate decision-making authority. Ensure the school complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Oversee the proper implementation of the school's health and safety policy for the entire school community.
- Communication: Establish and maintain effective communication within the school community and beyond. Foster strong relationships to promote understanding and support for the school's aims, values, and performance. Build and maintain connections with other heads, schools, and professional associations for the benefit of the school.
- Coordinating: Coordinating with parents, other professionals related to student development, other professionals related to teaching, and other teachers and non-teaching departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor/Masters Degree required (Preferably in Education or Business)
- Experience: Must be a qualified teacher with at least 5 years of teaching experience and 3 years of leadership experience as Vice Principal or Principal
- Licensing: Certified teaching license and background check required
- Specialization: Be knowledgeable with Cambridge IB or IGSCE curriculum
